As a first-time author, I had dreamed about getting the first copies of my debut novel, Deep Background. Thought about finally getting to hold it in my hands. Imagined what it would be like to flip through the pages.

I finally got to live out that fantasy today.

In the interest of transparency, I will say that I was tired and probably did not give the opening of the box or opening of the paperback cover enough pomp and circumstance (I currently have a physically laborious day job that’s acting as research for my next novel). But I will fall into a blissful sleep tonight with a gigantic smile.

The first signed copies have been reserved for years, but I have 150 more, and I’d love for you to have one. I was not expecting to get the copies this quickly (the Black Rose Writing team did an excellent job!), so I haven’t set up the digital infrastructure for you to order from this website just yet.

Before you commit to reading Deep Background, I feel like I need to put this disclaimer here: This novel is a thriller, and, while I am in no way comparing it to these titles or myself to these authors,  Deep Background is similar to a Gillian Flynn novel (Gone Girl, Sharp Objects) or The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. That means it includes foul language and adult themes.

But, if that’s not something you think you’d like to read, perhaps you have a friend who does. And maybe you haven’t yet purchased that friend a birthday or Christmas gift.
